Scope of Eligibility
Open to permanent employees in a competitive title who work for the Division of Resilience, Engineering & Construction and meet the requirements below.
Description
Under limited supervision of a supervisory official in a state department, institution, agency, or local government agency, performs professional engineering work including but not limited to water management, air pollution control/management, noise pollution control/management, coastal resource management, hazardous/non-hazardous waste control/management; reviews engineering plans, makes determinations and/or recommendations on plans; field visits, inspections, investigations/surveys; gathers data, researches and analyzes information as it relates to environmental control work; and/or the enforcement of environmental laws and/or regulations; works with Environmental Impact Statements; does related work as required.
Specific to the Position
Positions 1 & 2: Position requires to work independently, lead contract compliance and manage contracts. This position requires knowledge of DPMC bid process and contract requirements, Federal and State reporting requirements including Section 3, and reporting requirements.
Position 3: Oversee the continued construction of US Army Corps of Engineers flood control and storm damage reduction projects that the Bureau will maintain and operate once complete. Learn and implement the various operation and maintenance manuals for the overall projects including O&M of project facilities and their components.
Preferred Skillset
Position 1 & 2: Engineering background, computer modeling, GIS, letter writing.
Position 3: Knowledge of engineering principles involving flood control structures/pump stations. Ability to review and understand engineering plans, one-line plans, and other associated plans and specifications for shore protection, pump station, and other structures within the Bureau of Operations and Maintenance. Ability to review draft Operation & Maintenance manuals, provide comments, and implement the responsibilities of said manuals on large scale flood control projects.
Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Ocean, Coastal, Bio-Resource, Sanitary, Industrial, Agricultural or Mining Engineering, or other field of engineering related to the environment.
NOTE: A valid Professional Engineer's license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional experience in environmental engineering
work.
NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the fields specified above may be substituted for one (1) year of the above experience.

License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
