Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follows up on all equipment related failures. Defines trends and implements corrective action to prevent recurrence of similar failures and maximize equipment availability using the RAMS work management system.
- Interfaces with mechanical personnel, rolling stock manufacturers, line management and support organizations to coordinate out – of – service repairs, improve quality of maintenance activities, assure warranties are maintained and document repairs utilizing RAMS.
- Manages the daily development and progress of scheduled field maintenance programs. Monitor progress of capital programs and develop new maintenance initiatives. Performs quality assurance audits to improve reliability and availability of rolling stock.
- Reviews project reports, material consumptions and labor coding to ensure proper charge codes are being utilized.
- Keep current with new design maintenance and technologies to ensure the most efficient maintenance practices are maintained.
- Delegated work to assigned employees, oversees department budget, responds to requests and queries of supervisors. Motivates, counsels and conducts performance appraisals of subordinates.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of assigned employees, equipment and passengers. Ensure job briefings are properly performed and documented.
- Monitors compliance with CFR requirements for NJT rolling stock. Utilizes the RAMS work management system to monitor work order status and compliance with 49 CFR, Standard Maintenance Procedures, Maintenance bulletins and Company Policy.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering or related technical area, or graduate of an accredited mechanical trade school; and seven (7) years of applied progressively responsible experience in rail equipment maintenance, to include supervisory/managerial experience.
- One (1) Year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
