Pay: $18/hour
New Sprouts Daycare is seeking a qualified, dependable Substitute Teacher to join our team. This is an on-call/as-needed position. Per Illinois DCFS regulations, substitute teachers must meet the same qualifications as a Teacher.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and care for children in compliance with Illinois DCFS regulations
- Step into classrooms as needed to maintain ratios
- Support daily routines, activities, meals, and transitions
- Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment
- Follow all center policies and licensing requirements
Qualifications (Illinois DCFS – Teacher Requirements)
✔ Must be 19 years of age or older
✔ Must meet ONE of the following education requirements:
- 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- Gateways ECE Credential (Level 2 or higher)
✔ Must complete or have:
- Illinois Mandated Reporter Training
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- DCFS Orientation Training
- Required annual in-service training hours
✔ Must pass required DCFS background checks:
- CANTS
- Illinois State Police criminal background check
- FBI fingerprinting (if applicable)
✔ Health requirements include:
- Medical physical on file
- 2-step TB test or proof of current TB testing
- Immunization records or approved exemptions per DCFS
Schedule
- On-call / substitute
- Hours vary based on center needs
