The Screen Printer is responsible for advanced printing of lettering and designs with a screen-printing device or semi-automatic press on objects such as instrument dials, mechanical equipment, metal and plastic plates, and metal and plastic sheet stock.
Essential Job Functions
- Inspect and examine printed products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defec
- Reposition printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality.
- Set and adjust speed, temperature, ink flow, and positions and pressure tolerances of equipme
- Examine job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, and color sequence
- Select and install printing plates, gauges, screens, stencils, in machines according to specifica
- Pour or spread ink and formulate specific colors using ink components to outside standards.
- Take measurements and adjust control color and viscosity.
- Clean screen with solvent at end of run and when using different colors.
- Screen on rounds, in recessed areas or other complicated printing on difficult substrates.
Requirements
- High school diploma; may require some vocational training or job-related course work.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, or a vocational degree in Graphic Arts.
- Ability to trouble shoot typical printing issues at an advanced level.
- Ability to read English and communicate at a basic level with co-workers.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
- May have controlled exposure to solvents and inks. Protective gear is supplied, however, persons with allergies or respiratory sensitivity to chemicals should not consider this position.
Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing environment experience.
- MS Excel and other related programs.
