Job Title: VEHICLE MECHANIC
Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Schedules may be adjusted based on season or circumstance. Overtime as required. Subject to being called 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for emergencies due to inclement weather conditions.
Starting Rate: $28.06 PER HOUR / $58,376.09 ANNUAL

JOB SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of field maintenance equipment and to perform occasional field maintenance duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, replace, service, inspections and adjust mechanical and electrical parts on company vehicles and equipment.
- Requisition supplies and materials required to perform this job.
- Perform road service calls as necessary.
- Move office furniture, planters, etc. as directed.
- Assist the field maintenance crew in general repairs to facilities.
- Assists in preparing auction vehicles for auctions.
- Assist in snow removal operations.
- Assist all Authority personnel in training and safe operations of equipment.
- Inspect vehicles and related equipment to detect failed or improperly operating equipment.
- Perform preventive & corrective maintenance and/or replace defective parts or equipment utilizing manuals, drawings, specs, and other written or verbal instructions.
- Prepare reports or daily logs as required.
- Performs routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment, vehicles and machinery.
- Perform compliance and safety inspections on company equipment and property as required by management.
- Conducts daily inventory of assigned tools and equipment.
- Observe all established safety procedures.
- Perform administrative and housekeeping duties.
- Assist in the development of vehicle maintenance schedules and priorities.
- Adhere to all Authority personnel policies and departmental guidelines.
- Must be able to maintain Department of Transportation’s CDL requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned and directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge, skills and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
- Ability to read, speak, write and communicate clearly. Make calculations and follow detailed, written and oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees and supervisors.
- Ability to operate various automotive equipment, mobile (heavy) equipment, various shop machinery.
- Diagnostics and ability to conduct technical research on the computer.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, hydraulics, cooling systems, exhaust, brakes, suspensions, lights, etc. on a variety of yard equipment, heavy duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment.
- Ability to work inside and outside conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes, and gases from running engines and motors.
- Working on snow equipment snow brooms/snowplows and heavy equipment including hydraulics, electrical.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Trade school or equivalent
- Associates Degree in Automotive, Technical, Industrial or Diesel, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three to five years’ experience in automotive and heavy equipment mechanics.
- Two years’ experience in electronics, electrical and mechanical maintenance.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- CDL Class B license, required, or must be able to obtain a CDL Class B license within ninety (90) days of employment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must meet NAA driving record requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities.

The employee frequently is required to bend/stoop/squat, stand and walk. The employee must be able to assist in pushing and pulling planters, office furniture and other heavy equipment. Employee must demonstrate the ability to perform these essential functions during their physical examinations.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION: The ability to operate various automotive equipment, heavy equipment (snowplows, frontend loaders, etc.) and various shop machinery.
