Position Summary:
The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant at Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for members and guests. This role involves managing staff, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring that all health and safety regulations are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management:
- Supervise and mentor restaurant staff, including servers, bartenders, and support staff.
- Schedule shifts, assign duties, and ensure adequate staffing levels during peak times.
- Conduct training sessions for new employees and ongoing training for existing staff.
- Address employee concerns and handle disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure that all members and guests always receive exceptional service.
- Handle complaints, feedback, and special requests with professionalism and promptness.
- Maintain a visible presence in the restaurant to monitor service quality and address issues as they arise.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure that the restaurant is clean, well-maintained, and meets all health and safety standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure adequate stock.
- Assist with menu planning and updates based on member preferences and seasonal availability.
- Event Coordination:
- Work closely with the events team to coordinate dining services for special events, banquets, and private functions.
- Ensure that all event setups are completed accurately and on time.
- Supervise the execution of events, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all staff adhere to company policies, health regulations, and licensing laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety standards and ensure the restaurant complies with all regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure that all areas of the restaurant meet hygiene and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a supervisor or in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a country club or upscale dining environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including cost control and inventory management.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
Work Conditions:
- The role requires flexibility, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying items, and navigating various areas of the country club.
