Responsibilities:
- Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
- Provides ongoing reassessment and follow-up care.
- Provides nutrition education services for patients and staff.
- Other duties.
Qualifications:
- Education: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.). Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.
- Experience: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.
- Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to use decision-making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formulas when assessing patients' nutritional needs.
