Description
The Financial Counselor is responsible for assisting patients and /or families to access financial resources. They give guidance to those patients who may qualify for assistance through state, county, and federal programs. Duties include but are not limited to; follows policy and procedures in regards to setting up formal payment arrangements, EFT’s, financial screenings, and down payment requests for elective procedures. Responsible for assisting patients in completing indigent, charity, and crime victim’s applications etc. Responsible for filing a lien on patients injured from accidents. Responsible for assisting self-pay patients by filling out appropriate forms, filing county form where applicable and assisting with Medicaid applications. Responsible for working with any and all collection agencies on all bad debts and prepares accounts for bad debt and sends them to collection agency.
Requirements
- Preferred 2 years bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, and written expression.
- Outstanding public relations/customer service experience.
- High level of personal presentation.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
- Ability to use sound judgement and cope with potentially stressful situations.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, being aware of both internal and external customers and meeting their needs and expectations.
