Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position | The Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the overall administration of the athletic training program. Primary sport responsibility will be supervision and management of athletic training services for sporting teams. Responsibilities will include injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation; maintaining accurate medical records, practice and game/event coverage, including travel; pre-participation evaluations; coordinating medical insurance claims; and supervising student athletic trainers and volunteers. The selected candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with the head athletic trainer, team physicians, head/assistant coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and administrators. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. |

| Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Department of Sports Medicine at North Carolina A&T State University exists to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to participate in intercollegiate athletics in the safest and healthiest manner possible. Our staff of certified athletic trainers and team physicians are responsible for the wellness of approximately 300 student-athletes. The North Carolina A&T State University Sports Medicine staff commits itself to providing personalized, comprehensive, contemporary, and effective health care that focuses on the student-athlete. | Minimum Requirements | Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field required; Master's Degree preferred. NATABOC Certification required; Must be eligible for North Carolina licensure. Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Minimum of 1 year as a certified athletic trainer at the collegiate level. |
