DESCRIPTION OF WORK :

The North Carolina General Assembly’s Printing Services is a nonpartisan department responsible for providing printing services and for fulfilling daily printing requests made by the legislators and legislative staff. The Printing Services Clerk is part of a team that utilizes modern and reliable equipment to deliver a variety of printing, collating, and large-quantity services, some of which may be distributed across the state of North Carolina. The Printing Services Clerk must have working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, PostScript, and PDF files. Responsibilities may include instructing other staff in the set-up and operations of high-speed printers, document management applications, and various pieces of bindery equipment. This position requires the ability to maintain composure and confidentiality and to communicate effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Work is performed independently but will be subject to supervision by the Printing Services Manager or Assistant Manager. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday, with an occasional evening shift, but may vary depending upon the needs of the Legislative Session. Work schedule variations could require weekend, late night, and holiday work. Please note : During the Legislative Session, the work schedule will be altered to fit the Session needs and shift work will be implemented.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES :
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate plus three years of experience involving printing or related work, clerical processing, and customer service work.
