Position Title : HVAC Mechanic I

Nature of Work :

Employee performs a full range of duties associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC. Employee receives verbal and written instructions indicating the nature of the work. Employee works with more experienced HVAC Technicians to accomplish troubleshooting and repair tasks, but is expected to perform general tasks with limited supervision. Employee operates equipment such as lifts. Assists other employees / trades and performs a variety of general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed. Employee practices safe work procedures.

Essential Duties of This Position :

Assists in the repair of HVAC systems

Assists in the installation of HVAC systems including the wiring of power and control equipment.

Assists with compressor replacements.

Cleans, lubricates and services HVAC equipment.

Assists with adjusting and balancing HVAC distribution systems.

Uses recycle and recovery equipment.

Measure and install HVAC assemblies such as piping and tubing.

Determines and procures type and quantities of materials needed.

Observes / monitors contracted work as needed.

Maintains and records material purchases and man-hour expenditures.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

Basic knowledge of the practices and equipment used in the installation and repair of HVAC equipment.

Basic knowledge of electricity.

Basic knowledge of refrigeration.

Ability to follow broad or specific written or oral instructions.

Ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects.

Ability to keep and submit accurate records for material purchases and man-hour expenditures.

Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Training, Experience, and Special Requirements :

High Diploma or equivalent.

2 years of considerable and progressively advanced experience in HVAC work.

Must hold a valid NC driver's license.
