About the Department
The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. This position works with the Division 1A Wrestling Team at NC State University that competes within the ACC and NCAA.
Essential Job Duties
The incumbent serves as Assistant Wrestling Coach for NC State’s Division 1A Wrestling team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting with coaching, scouting and recruiting student-athletes, inclusive of participating in the maximum-allowable evaluation and contact opportunities.
- Monitoring student-athlete academic schedules and performance, along with training, practice, and conditioning schedules.
- Participating in public relations activities and special events.
- Assisting with budget preparations and operates within approved budget allocations.
- Participating in NC State clinics, exhibitions and camps as needed.
- Assisting with donor and past player relationships.
- Promoting an environment that is conducive to player improvement and development at the highest level.
- Managing non-traditional work hours and significant team and recruiting travel.
- Adhering to all ACC, NCAA, NC State Athletics Department and NC State University rules.
Other Responsibilities
Performs other duties and assists with special projects as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletics Administration.
Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
Other Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year coaching experience with a Division 1 Collegiate Wrestling program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to, compliance with ACC, NCAA and University guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- At least three years of coaching experience a collegiate team.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
Must be able to pass annual NCAA Coaches exam.
