Analytical Chemist – Cannabis Lab
Second Shift Position with Weekend Work Requirement

Job Summary: We are looking for an Analytical Chemist to conduct routine testing using GC-MS, LC-MS/MS and ICP-MS and HPLC. This position will also support production through sample processing, as well as development and validation efforts. This position will support a variety of analytical techniques, under the guidance of the Scientific Director and in collaboration with colleagues.
Specific Responsibilities:
§ Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation (LCMS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, HPLC etc.) for optimum performance according to laboratory SOPs, manufacturer recommendations and professional experience.
- Work with the Scientific Director to develop laboratory SOPs, forms, and other documentation related to chemical and instrumental analysis.
- Prepare customer samples for chemical analysis according to laboratory procedures using established analytical methods and quality control protocols.
- Support method development and validation efforts by conducting analytical experiments at the direction of the Scientific Director and senior scientific staff.
- Work in a fast-paced, team-focused laboratory environment with high sample volume and guaranteed turn-around times.
- Ensure that all work is performed and documented in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to report results obtained from various analyses.
- Assist the Scientific Director with analytical needs of the laboratory as needed.
Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated proficiency with operation and maintenance of LC-MS/MS, GC/MS, ICP-MS, HPLC and instrumentation. Additional experience with other instrumental techniques, (preferably Shimadzu) is valuable.
- Experience with sample preparation techniques, including the use of analytical balances, micropipettes, and volumetric glassware etc...
- Basic understanding of analytical methods for inorganic chemical analysis.
- Proficient with operation of common laboratory equipment such as water baths, moisture analyzers, centrifuges, etc.
- Experience with quality control procedures for maintaining detailed and accurate records necessary for validation of analytical data.
- Proficient with computer applications including MS Office products, LIMS systems and instrument software.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university in the chemical, environmental, or biological sciences.
- Three to five years’ experience working in a regulated testing or production lab environment.
- 1-3 years experience operating and maintaining instrumentation.
Physical Demands:
- Able to communicate clearly with staff, management, and clients
- Able to sit and /or stand as needed for 100% of an 8-hour day
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment
