What are the responsibilities and job description for the Premium Auditor position at North Dakota Workforce Safety & Insurance?

Summary of Work

The Premium Auditor is the primary liaison for Workforce Safety & Insurance providing efficient and equitable service to insured policyholders operating in North Dakota. To be successful in this position, you need to be an effective communicator with a forward-thinking mindset ready to apply your decision-making skills.

You will work independently and be responsible for conducting premium audits at employer sites or by phone to ensure the accuracy of proper rate classification assignments and reported payroll information provided by the employer. The many duties include:

  • Conducting preliminary audit research
  • Interviewing clients to understand their business operations
  • Documenting, evaluating, and identifying problems to improve client payroll reporting
  • Developing and applying audit tests
  • Participating in pre- and post-audit conferences
  • Preparing audit reports
  • Documenting results
  • Travel to employer sites is required

Minimum Qualifications

To thrive in this position, qualified applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, statistics, economics, or another related area with coursework in accounting.

  • Or a combination of education and/or work experience in the following: insurance auditing, financial auditing, accounting auditing, fraud auditing, or in a related auditing field would substitute the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
