What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist position at North East Medical Services?
The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating/assessing needs of patients and formulating treatment plans. S/he provides therapy services defined in treatment plans and works cooperatively with physicians. The Physical Therapist may supervise physical therapy assistant(s).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Consults with patients to learn about their physical condition and symptoms.
- Provides manual therapy as part of treatment plan when indicated.
- Assesses and evaluates therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status, and participation in the development of the total plan of care.
- Instructs patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances.
- Determines priority needs for physical therapy.
- Reports to physician patient’s reaction to treatment or changes in condition and document in patient record (EHR).
- Initiates physical therapy program and coordinates with family members on home programs, exercise, and case conference.
- Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and refers as necessary.
- Prepares and submits a clinical progress summary based on the attainment of goals as directed by Organization policy.
- Performs other relevant job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
- Complies with federal and state regulations.
- Complies with APTA code of ethics.
- Complies with continuation education requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree approved by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
- Licensed to practice as physical therapist in California.
- Must meet the educational requirements set by the California Board of Physical Therapy.
- 1 year of experience in outpatient setting.
- Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required.
LANGUAGE:
- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
- Fluent Chinese speaker (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred.
- Fluent in other languages are an asset.
STATUS:
This is an FLSA exempt position.
This is an OSHA high-risk position.
