What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatrician position at North Florida Pediatrics?
A Pediatrician, or Pediatric Physician, is responsible for performing routine health assessments of children to check for injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Their duties include communicating with patients and their parents to help them maintain healthy habits, administering vaccinations for common viruses or allergies and referring patients to specialists based on their needs.
Essential Job Functions
Communicate with front desk staff to review appointments for the day
Before each appointment, they read the patient’s medical files to review their medical history.
administer vaccines, collect blood or urine samples and use tools to check their blood pressure, lung health, reflexes and other components.
During each appointment, they take the time to speak with their patients about their current life situation and ask them if they’ve noticed any changes in their mood or physical health since their last visit.
After each appointment, Physicians update medical records for their patients, contact pharmacies to prepare prescription refills and send samples to the medical lab for testing.

Qualifications/Education and Experience
Required education for a Physician is a degree in medicine in addition to a bachelor’s degree,
five-year residency training
a current state medical license
Federal DEA license.
Current Drug Enforcement Agency and Department of Public Safety registration is required to prescribe medication.
A Physician will have completed a U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
