Description
The Lifeguard will ensure swimmers’ safety in the lake area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures that the rules and regulations of the waterfront are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
- Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
- Contacts emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.
- Excellent observational skills.
- Ability to enforce waterfront regulations and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must possess the following certifications from the Red Cross or other equivalent agency: lifeguard training, CPR, AED, and first aid.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be a skilled swimmer and able to pull weight through the water.
- Must be physically able to rescue someone drowning or injured in the water.
- Prolonged periods of being outdoors.
