Contract Law Enforcement Officer
The North Mississippi State Hospital is searching for a Contract Law Enforcement Officer for the Tupelo, Mississippi location in Lee County. This is a part-time Day/Evening/Night Shift Position. The Law Enforcement Officer will be responsible for investigating crimes on NMSH premises, making arrests as needed, and assisting direct care staff with resistive/combative patients. The incumbent will support the mission of NMSH to provide the highest quality acute psychiatric care for Northeast Mississippi adults in the process of recovery.
Essential Functions:
This is an Entry level sworn law enforcement position. It is entry level technical work in which officers are responsible for patrolling and enforcing relevant laws within their jurisdiction. Work is performed under direct supervision of law enforcement staff/personnel of higher classifications.
- Inventories and records all personal property in proper logs/manuals and signs ledger.
- Searches patients and their personal belongings for harmful or unallowable items.
- Responds to emergency situations such as fires, bomb threats, elopements, or other situations occurring on the grounds of NMSH facility.
- Uses communication radio to give or receive information.
- Salary: $18.00 per Hour

Experience:
Typically requires possession of a State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Professional Certification within six months of hire. By law, certain Cadets are classified as non-state service until certification is obtained.
