What are the responsibilities and job description for the After-School Homework Help Tutor position at North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club?
Do you want to make a tangible difference in the lives of the kids in our local community? Have you been told you are great with kids? If so, the Indian Valley Boys & Girls Club is looking for candidates to assist members with their homework after school in a fun and relaxed setting! In addition to helping with homework, we provide our members with interactive read-aloud sessions twice a week and exciting and engaging science, art, or technology activities. Through our afterschool homework program, we have seen thousands of youths get ready to take on middle school and beyond!
Teaching experience is not required, but the attitude and desire to help our kids is preferred! Our program features 5 classrooms for grades 1 through 5. Each classroom comes with 15 students who are ready to work with you and an assistant partner! Lead classroom teachers are responsible for filling out nightly paperwork, maintaining contact with teachers and parents, and classroom management.
All candidates must:
- Have experience working with children
- Be patient and reliable
- Be energetic and positive
- Be willing to participate in all Club activities with a fun attitude. Club activities may require the occasional longer work shift.
- Be able to pass PA and national criminal and child abuse background checks.
- Be over the age of 18
- Live within a 15 mile radius of Souderton, PA
- Be able to work Monday through Friday from 3pm-7pm (if you work a day job and you are the right candidate there is the ability to be flexible with your start time)
- Be flexible and have a positive attitude about work
This is a part-time position for the duration of the school year. Additionally, staff take part in nightly cleaning and building maintenance.
