The Commercial Lender will focus on developing new business, underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial and consumer loans, as well as maintaining and servicing the loan portfolio. The Commercial Lender will gather loan applications and loan requests through customer visits, calls and walk-in requests. The Commercial Lender will seek deposit relationships and any other services that could be beneficial for the customer, NSSB, and the communities we serve. Represent the bank in its markets area through participation in community affairs.

Essential Functions:

1. Develops and manages client relationships. This involves prospecting for new clients through outbound telephone and in-person calling; attendance at networking groups and events; interviewing loan applicants; collecting and analyzing information that reflects the current credit worthiness of prospects; and presenting loan recommendations to the Bank’s Chief Lending Officer, Chief Credit Officer, Chief Executive Officer and loan committee(s) as appropriate. It also involves working with the Bank’s operations team to set up clients’ new accounts and cash management services and working with existing clients on an ongoing basis to assure that the Bank is providing them with extraordinary service and to identify any additional business opportunities from those clients.

2. Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act including Customer Identification Program procedures for new customers, accurate completion of new account profiles, customer due diligence, assisting the Compliance Department in identify high risk accounts at account opening, and reporting suspicious activities to the Compliance Officer.

3. Structures loans within loan policy. Approves loans up to stated lending limit and works with credit department and/or loan committee for proper approvals.

4. Establishes, and negotiates where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral.

5. Monitors and manages loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections and portfolio monitoring.

6. Represents the Bank at community, business networking and trade association functions in a positive manner.

7. Ensures that complete loan files are maintained; works with clients and Loan Servicing and Operations departments to assure that client servicing needs are handled in a professional and expeditious manner.

8. When necessary, be able to structure an appropriate work out for any specific loan. Ensures progress is made in the event of liquidation of collateral and maintains effective communication with the legal representation for the bank to ensure the bank maximizes its effort in a legal manner.

9. Proficient in cashflow, taxes and financial statement analysis.

10. Assist the Chief Lending Officer in ensuring the entire bank’s delinquency percentage is at or below industry standards.

11. Competently complete any task or issue assigned by a Senior Executive Officer or Board of Director.

12. Ensure the organization’s Code of Ethics are being followed at all times.

13. Participates in bank wide training program.

Competencies:

1. Applicant should be able to exercise good judgment in establishing and maintaining working relationships, solve problems, and be able to deliver a high level of accuracy, focus and timeliness with limited supervision.

2. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required along with a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Programs/Products.

3. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, contracts, credit and financial documents as well as other legal documents as needed.

4. Ability to present, sell and service bank products as well as demonstrate professional knowledge of commercial lending.

5. Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities as well as an understanding of credit underwriting and loan documentation

Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical office setting as well as out in the community. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Travel:

This position requires travel as needed.

Preferred Education and/or Experience and/or Combination:

· Bachelor degree preferred but not required or equivalent work experience considered.

· NMLS License and will be subject to additional background checks as required by Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regulations.

Work Authorization and Background Screenings

Employee must successfully pass a background and credit check and provide US work authorization.
