Entry-level Grounds Worker

NorthBay Education is a non-profit organization providing large-scale, innovative education programs to public school students. Headquartered in North East Maryland, NorthBay is the largest program of its kind, serving middle school students from Maryland and surrounding states with the goal of transforming lives and inspiring action by fundamentally changing the way students experience and engage in education.

NorthBay is seeking an entry-level Grounds Technician for the maintenance of all outdoor areas and the general maintenance and upkeep and appearance of the NorthBay grounds, as well as all NorthBay vehicles and grounds related equipment.

NorthBay is looking for a highly motivated individual who is both task-driven and team-oriented. Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of grounds maintenance experience. Excellent, positive communication skills and the ability to multi-task are vital to this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, but not limited to.

• Positively contributes to creating a sense of welcome to all individuals (students, campers, adults, teachers, chaperones, staff) on campus.
• Ensures all duties and activities relating to the grounds and their upkeep are carried out in an effective timely manner.
• Maintenance of all lawns, trees, gardens, shrubbery and hardscape including clipping, cutting and leaf removal.
• Ensure that all sidewalks, parking and public areas are clean and clear from snow, ice, leaves, clippings and debris.
• As directed by supervisor, maintain and repair all NorthBay vehicles.
• Experience with equipment including, but not limited to, skid steer, tractor, and zero turn mower.
• As directed by supervisor, maintain all Grounds and Maintenance associated equipment and machinery.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 2 years or more of working in a grounds keeping position or currently be pursuing a degree or certification in grounds/ turf management. Must be able to work independently on projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $16.20 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Landscape maintenance: 2 years (Preferred)
