Oyster Farmer Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking person to be a part of our oyster farm team. This is a contract position ideal for those seeking supplemental income with the potential of a full-time position in the future.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and a commitment to sustainable practices. This role involves various responsibilities related to crop production and animal care, ensuring the health and productivity of our farm operations. A successful farmer will possess strong mechanical knowledge, the ability to perform heavy lifting, and an understanding of environmental regulations.

Duties

• Daily/weekly farm operations including planting, cleaning, and harvesting oysters
• Perform weekly processes (flipping floating gear and pressure washing fouled gear) to keep the oysters and farm gear clear of bio-fouling
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Adhere to environmental laws and regulations in all farming activities.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve farm goals and improve productivity.

Experience

• Previous experience in aquaculture is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with mechanical aquaculture farming equipment is helpful but not mandatory.
• Understanding of environmental laws as they pertain to farming practices is a plus.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by various tasks on the farm.
• Ability to safely operate a boat is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Weekends as needed

• Hampstead, NC 28443 (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Hampstead, NC 28443: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
