What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Assistants position at Northbridge Public Schools?
Responsibilities: 1. Reinforce instruction of general education under the direction of a Special Education Teacher 2. Ability to interact with all students with disabilities in a caring and compassionate manner 3. Accompany student(s) to General Education classroom and provide accommodations and/or modifications to instruction as outlined in the IEP4.
Set up assistive technology for student use 5. Reinforce previously taught concepts in a one-on-one or small group setting 6. Document student progress both academically and behaviorally 7. Administer daily content area tests/quizzes as well as standardized tests.
8. Implement instructional and behavioral programs as designed by the Special Education Teacher, BCBA, and/or related service providers9. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs and modifications, including but not limited to augmentative communication devices, task analysis, and discrete trial materials10. Maintain student specific materials, reinforcers, and programming in a neat and orderly manner 11.
Conduct data collection at all stages of skill acquisition12. Ensure safety of students as they use adaptive equipment 13. Monitor student medical needs and alert nurse, as appropriate14. Assist with self-help skills, including but not limited to clothing, feeding, toileting 15.
Participate in student progress meetings when requested, and provide input for progress reports and objectives; inform appropriate staff of program changes and updates16. Demonstrate flexibility when daily schedules change17. Communicate with liaison regarding progress of students 18. Complete parent communication logs and district documents as required19.
Participate in required professional development, such as restraint training, CPR/First Aid certification, ALICE training, etc.20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education teacher, Classroom teacher, SAC, BCBA, Building Principal, and/or Director of Pupil Services
