What are the responsibilities and job description for the MLT/Lab Student position at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center Health System?
The MLT Student works with staff technologists (MT/MLT) to perform interpret and correlate clinical laboratory tests, procedures and associated tasks in all disciplines of the Clinical Laboratory, by following protocols. The student performs quality control and quality assurance procedures; performs equipment/instruments checks and maintains appropriate records. Under the direction of a staff technologist, the MLT student is expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
Works under the supervision of a MLT
Performs testing.
Reviews results as assigned.
Evaluates shifts and trends and correlates results with disease processes.
Maintains work environment.
Interacts with necessary departments and agencies both within and outside the hospital.
Current Enrollment Student in an accredited MLT Program; ​​​​​​​ Current Enrollment in Clinical Rotation in an accredited MLT Program.
​​​​​​​ BLS certification required.
