Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Assistant Program Director is responsible for supporting and assisting the Program Director in coordinating, implementing, and achieving all program related goals and performance outcomes, providing required Coalition Board reports, grant funded reports, fatherhood program reports, community networking, collaborative partnerships, coordinating MOUs, letters of support, and monitoring individual program budgeting. Other duties and responsibilities are ensuring day-to-day operation of the North & Westside fatherhood office locations, general maintenance, inventory of furniture, equipment/supplies, organizing and conducting training (as needed) for staff, volunteers, and community partners. Planning and conducting outreach activities in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties to market, educate the community, recruit participants, and community partners to the fathers program.
Specific Activities:
Staff Supervision, Training & Management
- Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, interviewing and selection of qualified program staff and volunteers under the guidance of the program director
- Responsible for day to day supervision of all program staff, volunteers and participants
- Supervise, support, train and counsel staff and volunteers in all aspects of the fatherhood program and the Coalition’s mission statement and policies
- Oversee coordination of ongoing formal training plan for program staff under guidance of program director
- Ensure “positive participant experience” by providing fidelity curriculum training in parenting, co-parenting education, early childhood education/infant care, self-sufficiency, utilizing (but not limited to) the 24/7 Dad, Inside-Out Dad, Understanding Dads, Pro-Fathering 15, Mom as Gateway and Boot Camp for New Dads curricula to train and educate program participants, staff, and community partners.
- Work directly with case managers and coaches to ensure appropriate referrals and availability of services, such as job-driven employment find & placement, child support navigation, mental health counseling, financial literacy, and infant mortality awareness and prevention techniques are provided to program fathers and father figures.
Program Coordination
- Assist program director with recruiting and retaining participants from the target population by conducting outreach with community agencies to increase knowledge and referrals to program
- Assist program director develop partnerships with agencies through community networking, collaborative partnerships, MOUs and ongoing services; works collaboratively with agency staff, The Family Court System, Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Revenue, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, private/community organizations, and individuals to develop, maintain, and provide appropriate programs for fathers who are involved in the court system
- Conduct initial contacts with fathers referred to case management services and assign members to a case manager or coach.
- Coordinate and assign facilitators for Fatherhood workshop schedules and calendars
- Plan, coordinate, implement and provide leadership at program special events like the International Fatherhood Men’s Health Week, Father’s Day BBQ competition/Infant Mortality Awareness Event, Barbers for Babies Back-to-School Activities, etc.
- Provide back-up case management services and workshop facilitation activities, as needed
Administrative
- Participate in all Grantee initiatives
- Attend meetings and trainings as required by the Coalition, department and agency
- Maintains confidentiality of all information related to the program
- Perform all other duties assigned by program director
Staff Development & Supervision
- Supervisory responsibilities include providing employee feedback including conducting timely 90-day and annual performance evaluation, and all other duties related to professionally directing and managing a staff.
- Review and evaluate staff performance and develop competencies that support and achieve the Coalition and department goals.
- Accountable for consistently administering and implementing the Coalition policies and procedures.
- Enhance, implement and facilitate the Fatherhood program to ensure that identified members will be served per the program requirements.
- Accountable for the reporting process for the accurate and timely completion, tracking and monitoring of weekly, monthly and quarterly and annual activities and duties as required by the program.
