THE POSITION
Northeast Kingdom Human Services is seeking an Employment Specialist to provide employment support to DS individuals. The DS, Developmental Services Team are dedicated individuals with the heart and passion for helping people with developmental disabilities live more independently, pursue their personal interests and goals, and be an active part of their community.

NKHS has over 500 employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / SUMMARY
The Employment Specialist position is designed to respectfully support and guide the individual with developmental disabilities to gain skills, knowledge and competencies to find and maintain competitive employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
- Work with specific caseload of consumers to assess training needs.
- Trains consumers in a variety of skills to enable them to obtain and/or retain employment.
- Will do job development after a thorough assessment of the consumers skills and desires.
- Assist consumers in job search and employment interviews. May work alongside a consumer in a new job to assist the consumer to learn the various job duties.
- Provides written assessments of consumer’s needs, progress, and employment potential.
- Will work closely with other agencies, such as Department of Employment and Training and Vocational Rehabilitation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with individuals who are developmentally disabled.
- Valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance.
