Are you a strong, mission-driven leader with a passion for juvenile justice and youth rehabilitation? The Juvenile Services Center in Madison, Nebraska is seeking an experienced Facility Administrator to oversee the daily operations of our 34-bed, co-ed secure juvenile facility. This is a highly responsible leadership role focused on safety, accountability, and positive outcomes for youth and staff alike.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, supervise, and support facility staff to ensure a safe, secure, and constructive environment
- Oversee all programs, services, and security operations at the center
- Develop, maintain, and update facility policies and procedures
- Manage personnel functions including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and discipline
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local juvenile justice standards
- Review critical incident reports, grievances, and conduct investigations as needed
- Prepare and manage the facility’s annual budget, assessments, and per diem rates
- Serve as a liaison with courts, law enforcement, human service agencies, and community partners
- Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors and participate in professional committees
- Be available for emergency response on a 24/7 basis
What We’re Looking For
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- In-depth knowledge of juvenile justice systems and correctional or detention operations
- Experience in personnel administration and program oversight
- Understanding of adolescent behavior, family systems, and human services
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, youth, families, government officials, and community stakeholders
- Familiarity with legal standards, compliance requirements, and grant administration (preferred)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field and/or minimum of 5 years related experience in a Correctional setting
- At least 19 years of age
- No history of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behavior toward children
- No unpardoned felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Ability to meet all background and compliance requirements

The correctional institution environment can be stressful and hazardous. Each year, correctional officers are injured in physical confrontations with inmates. This position requires work indoors and outdoors.
Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
