Custodial Worker

JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision, perform routine building and grounds work.  Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Sweep, clean, dust, wax and buff floors; operate powered cleaning machines.
• Dust and polish furniture; empty waste baskets.
• Work from scaffolds or ladders to clean walls, ceilings and fixtures.
• Wash wall surfaces, baseboards, windows; help move furniture and set up equipment.
• Perform routine building and grounds cleanup.
• Maintain cleaning supplies; sweep.
• Rake and wash walks and roadways; shovel snow and spread salt on icy pavements.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to buildings, furniture and equipment.
• Replace light bulbs; assist with maintenance of grass and landscaped areas, including grass mowing, and pruning shrubbery and trees.
• Report needs for major repairs.
• Observe safe work practices.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

• Candidate must possess a High school diploma or it’s GED Equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

• Candidate must possess no previous years of experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Candidate must possess the ability to read and write, to do manual labor, to follow verbal and written instructions, to use tools required to perform various tasks.
• Candidate must possess the ability to be reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled.
