What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist - Full Time position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Assessment, intervention, and education of nutrition care with patients, physicians, nursing and other patient care team members. Assist with the planning of patient menus to meet Institute Medicine Food and Nutrition Board’s Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI’s) guidelines. Coordinates diets and special needs with dietary department staff.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Provides medical nutritional therapy education to in-patients and patient families.
Assessment, evaluation and monitoring of nutritional needs for in-patients identified with increased nutritional risk, providing nutritional support as needed.
Assists in menu planning for patients, coordinates diets and special needs with dietary staff, assist with selection of formulary for nutritional supplements.
Serves on hospital committees as assigned. Communicates with other medical staff and ancillary departments for the purpose of patient care.
Provides evidence based nutrition practices to care team planning.
Maintains standards of clinical nutrition care as outlined by hospital policy, state and local regulations, professional organizations and other regulatory agencies.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - BS degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition from an Accredited Dietetics Program. Successfully
completed internship from accredited dietetic program.
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous experience in clinical setting with related demonstrable knowledge and skills
Required Certification/Registration - BS in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition from an Accredited Dietetics Program. Current Registration with the Commission of Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Current License with the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure
Preferred Education - Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration with the Academy of Nutrition
and Dietetics, Licensed with the State of Oklahoma in good standing, Master’s Degree, Certification in Critical Care
Nutrition, Certified Diabetes Educator, or Certified Renal Dietitian.
