Success Coord, Educ Talent Search – BA Campus

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating Educational Talent Search/TRIO programming for the BA campus.

MAJOR DUTIES

Plans, implements and facilitates workshops; conducts a series of seminars using grade-appropriate curriculum on high school success, college readiness, career exploration and life skills, financial literacy, and college planning.

Recruits, identifies, assesses, and documents eligible partnerships; develops individual service strategies plans for each participant and monitors academic progress; maintains records regarding student eligibility and performance; submits reports regarding student outcomes and activity costs; conducts regular formative and summative evaluations of programming, including developing survey and assessment instruments, determining campus visit and field trip participation rates, and tracking program graduates.

Plans, implements and supervises campus visits to colleges and universities, challenge courses, educational career sites, and workshops.

Acquires financial documentation for all activity costs; verifies and documents purchase card transactions for meals; reports event costs monthly.

Develops strategies to provide educational opportunities for parents.

Develops and maintains a network of college and career resources.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of educational program services design and implementation principles.

Knowledge of program evaluation principles.

Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

Skill in oral and written communication.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Educational Talent Search Assistant Director assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include TRIO regulations, grant requirements, and university policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The work consists of varied program coordination duties. The volume of students contributes to the complexity of the position.

The purpose of this position is to coordinate Educational Talent Search programming. Success in this position contributes to the success of program participants.

CONTACTS

Contacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, parents, and members of the general public.

Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and utilizes the sense of smell.

The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

Supervision is exercised over Education Talent Search student employees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in education or a related field.

Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

Annual salary $40,716.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time
