Job Title: Custodian Supervisor (Full Time)

Location: Northern Children Philadelphia Campus

Department: Buildings and Grounds Services

Reports to: Director of Buildings and Grounds

Hours: 10:00-6:00pm Monday-Friday, occasional work on the weekends and afterhours.

Job Summary: This hands-on position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and professional appearance of all buildings and campus. Supervise, train, and schedule staff shifts, monitor staff attendance, and conduct staff performance evaluations. Record and document day-to-day work, organize special projects, oversee seasonal projects, and recommend improvements to leadership. Purchase supplies and materials for staff use.

General Duties/Responsibilities:
• Purchase, control, and track inventory
• Keep records of custodial cleaning reports and checklists
• Monitors safe work practices
• Recommend replacement or purchase of equipment.
• Research and test new custodial methods, supplies, and equipment for improvements
• Ensure that all campus areas are kept very clean and in proper working order.
• Clean individual offices including trash removal, vacuuming, sweep, and mop.
• Clean all hallways daily
• Assist Administration in areas as needed, including fixing, installing and maintaining various equipment and materials.
• Follow custodial checklist for daily duties.
• Ensure all information regarding employees, staff and students is kept confidential.
• Address staff and client needs and issues as they arise.
• Keep current with campus security policies and procedures.
• Participate in the recruitment and selection of personnel
• Participate with other staff in promoting good teamwork.
• Recommend measures to improve methods, performance, quality of production, services, and suggest changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.

In addition, employees must follow the Northern Children Services Ethical Conduct which includes but is not limited to maintaining the highest standards of personal and professional conduct.

Education Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• At least 3 Years Experience in the Custodial / Janitorial field.
• At least 2 Years Experience Supervising and Managing Staff
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with hardware/software relevant to job requirements.
• Good organizational skills: ability to adapt and prioritize tasks.
• Maintain a professional image.
• Safeguard confidential information.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Repetitively lift up to 50 lbs. or more (e.g., furniture, ladders, etc.).
  • Be mobile for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Perform simple grasping, pushing, and pulling (e.g., filing, file drawers).
  • Communicate with staff professionally.
  • Constant stooping, bending, reaching, and squatting are required
