POSITION SUMMARY:
The accounts payable clerk is responsible for the payment of goods and services purchased by the organization. This role also serves as auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the entry and verification of all invoices for appropriate documentation.
- Process payments ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received.
- Communicate with co-workers, clients, franchises and others regarding payments.
- Audit transactions to ensure they follow proper policies and procedures.
- Enter invoices into system and run reports as necessary.
- Maintain vendor files.
- Act as liaison with all departments for invoices and queries to obtain necessary authorization for payment.
- Prepare monthly schedules and reconciliations for assigned company program.
- Assist with reconciling balance sheet.
- Assist Accounting team with month-end processes and tax returns.
- Assist with the preparation of schedules and working papers for annual financial statement audits
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Two-year degree in accounting or finance preferred
- Two to three years previous experience required
- Strong knowledge of Excel formulas and functions to manipulate data
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to work with all levels of employees.
