RESIDENTIAL HOME SUPERVISOR - SENECA PLACE HOME

Assumes primary administrative responsibility and authority for up to six (6) Adults with Developmental Disabilities or Mental Illness in a specialized residential home, under the supervision of the Residential Services Administrator (RSA). Responsible for maintaining the 24-hour operation of the home and directing the activities of the residential care home staff in providing training, maintaining care and safety, and assuring the rights of persons living in the home. Responsibilities will also include maintaining relationships between NLCMHA and ancillary support organizations; and advocating for residents of the home.

Essential Functions

  • Assume responsibility with consultation of the RSA, in matters of staff recruitment and hiring. This will include appropriate completion of the application process, review of job qualifications and job descriptions, conducting interviews, checking references, coordinating employment contingencies, coordinating with area physicians for scheduling of employee physical examinations, and obtaining verifications for employment eligibility, driver’s license and licensing record clearance requests, as required.
  • Assume responsibility with consultation of the RSA, in matters of staff scheduling, and supervising, evaluating staff work performance. This will include maintaining personnel files within regulations and requirements, providing on-going and annual staff performance reviews, providing information and rationale for procedural and program concerns, counseling staff on performance/procedural issues and providing disciplinary action to staff which may include but not be limited to verbal and/or written warnings, suspension, conditional ratings, and/or dismissal.
  • Work with residential staff to assure the home operates within the goals of the program.
  • Consult and meet with the RSA on program operational and resident issues.
  • Maintain the program in concert with all policies, procedures, guidelines, and/or legal commitments to consumers as required by the Mental Health Code, Department of Human Services Licensing Guidelines, LARA, NLCMHA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Work with the assigned Case Managers and other Interdisciplinary Team Members on program and individual concerns including development and implementation of Person-Centered Plans.
  • Monitor and assist staff in the development, implementation, documentation, and regular review of an individual’s Person- Centered Plan.
  • Assure transportation for persons living in the home to programmatic and necessary personal activities and appointments as well as to and from places of employment, day program, etc. as defined in the Person-Centered Plan.
  • Assure that medical or dental needs are identified and are met according to the Interdisciplinary Team recommendations and recognized agency procedure.
  • Assure that supplies, materials and goods are purchased in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Assure for implementation of the preventative maintenance plan; assures that the home is maintained in good repair including housekeeping and grounds care. Complete minor home repairs.
  • Assure regular staff contact with the individuals' day program staff or school, as appropriate and identified in the Person-Centered Plan.
  • Assure that all reports are submitted to the appropriate agencies, groups and individuals in a timely manner. This includes NLCMHA employee time sheets, mileage and gas logs, purchase orders, etc.
  • Foster professional development of staff through in-service education and through planning, conducting and participating in workshops.
  • Monitor, test and recommend changes in home emergency evacuation, and accident procedures/systems.
  • Maintain up to date E-Scores.
  • Maintain sufficient direct contact with the persons living in the home, their families (or other responsible party, i.e. guardian), and to be knowledgeable concerning individual needs and capabilities.
  • Represent the agency to the community, in advocacy issues, bridging relationships, and providing information.
  • Assure the preparation of menus/meals is nutritionally adequate, in consultation with the physician, nurse, and dietician where appropriate.
  • Assume primary responsibility for assuring the administration of prescribed medication and storage in a safe and acceptable manner; assists in its administration when necessary.
  • Assist in crisis intervention both day and evening hours. Will assume responsibility that after-hours crisis or on-call is contacted appropriately.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of related behavioral plans for the individuals of the home.
  • Maintain adherence to house policies and procedures.
  • Possess and exhibit good reading comprehension, and communication skills, and be able to clearly relate thoughts and concerns.
  • Assume primary responsibility for performing financial functions related to the operation of the program including vouchering bills, balance of petty cash and EBT, and accounting for individual’s funds in cash, savings accounts, etc.
  • Monitor and provide information as required for purposes of obtaining and maintaining an individual’s benefits.
  • Schedule and participate regularly in home, residential, and agency meetings.
  • Participate as a member of the committee that selects and/or discharges individuals from the home.
  • Conduct regular management audits of the home.
  • Monitor administrative auditing to ensure correction is made to areas identified.
  • Perform all tasks when necessary as indicated on the job description for Residential Care Aide.
  • Maintain an awareness to provide a safe and healthy environment and will report all hazards and/or concerns.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of high school education with proof of diploma/certificate.

Minimal one (1) year experience working in the human services or related field.

Position Specific Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Be in good physical condition, to include passing a physical examination and checklist at employment and a negative TB test.
  • Successful completion of all training modules or proof of equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Adept at conflict resolution
  • Must be of good moral character and able to assure the welfare and safety of the persons living in the home.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, remain on feet for long periods of time, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist as necessary in the care of the individuals and the home in which they work.
  • Must be able to assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of Residential Care Aides.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and coordinate service delivery to individuals of the home.
  • Must be able to meet all job requirements as listed in the Position Description for Residential Care Aide.
  • Must participate in and successfully complete 16 hours of training annually, designated or approved by the Dept. of Human Services Licensing Division that is relevant to the home’s admission policy and program statement, OR must complete 6 credit hours at an accredited college or university annually in an area that is relevant to the home’s admission policy and program statement.
  • Must obtain training and maintain certification in CPR and Basic First Aid; instructor certification preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to meet agency policies and procedures.
  • Consistent with exempt salaried positions be willing to adjust schedule, consistent with agency practice, to meet the needs of assigned individuals.
