| The Microbiology Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for the completion of the routine workload in the specimen Microbiology section of the Laboratory department. This includes microbiology specimen processing as well as all microbiology testing areas (bacteriology and kit testing) according to established laboratory policies and procedures, the exact nature of the work may vary depending upon the workload and the assigned duties. Operates and maintains all equipment in the microbiology area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records test results, communicates with physician, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results. This position may have section supervisory responsibilities and works under the direction of the Technical Director of Laboratory Services and the Laboratory Supervisor. |
