Work Schedule:
Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening or weekend work required. Annual plant shutdown is on the weekend after winter commencement. Extended hours may be required during busier times such as the construction season and plant shutdowns.
Salary:
Targeted salary range: $89,920-$96,664
Travel:
Less than 10%
Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties:
Direct all aspects associated with the operation and maintenance of the university heating plant and its steam and condensate distribution systems.
Perform design, bidding, and construction administration services for construction and maintenance projects.

Required Minimum Work Experience:
Five years experience in steam production/distribution.
Three years of experience in preparing, reviewing, and/or critiquing construction design documents.
Three years experience in construction methods, coordination, and/or inspection.
Two years of supervisory experience.
Three years of experience in preparing, reviewing, and/or critiquing construction design documents.

Knowledge of all phases of design, bidding, construction, operation, and maintenance of building mechanical, facility management, and steam production/distribution systems.
Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
Licensed professional engineer registration in the State of Michigan.
Supervision of technical trades in union shop.
Knowledge and experience with electric generation systems.
Knowledge and experience in engineering for schools or institutions; preferably a university facilities department.
Budget and construction cost estimating experience.
