Role Summary
The Operations Coordinator will assist with departmental and managerial administrative tasks and support departmental operations. The Operations Coordinator will communicate and coordinate operational information (e.g. schedules, metrics, etc.) between staff, departments, and management. The Operations Coordinator will assist supervisors with monitoring and managing departmental information and collaborations within their primary department and between other departments.

Role Responsibilities

  • Communicate and coordinate information between staff and other departments.
  • Work with supervisors to manage department scheduling, staff scheduling, employee engagement, and contribute to planning and projects.
  • Assist with resolving scheduling issues or scheduling conflicts.
  • Track competencies, proficiencies, and training of staff.
  • Compile, coordinate, and maintain department information and metrics on communication platforms.
  • Assist supervisors with monitoring and tracking information and generating reports of department information and metrics.
  • Assist with improvement activities and projects to proactively advance the department.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining department equipment compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental supply replenishment and ordering.
  • Assist with departmental and operational tasks, as needed (e.g. data review, animal anesthesia monitoring, or equipment maintenance).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required. An undergraduate degree in animal or life sciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of project management/project coordination preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of study design and protocols as well as laboratory operations and data collection.
  • Good knowledge of GLPs and other federal regulations relating to care of laboratory animals.
  • Ability to handle common laboratory species.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications
  • AALAS Certification preferred.

Special Requirements

  • The person filling this position will spend approximately 80% in an office setting and 20% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
  • Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
  • Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing and ascending ladders without restriction.
  • Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts with short notice.

Salary : $50,000 - $80,000
