Purpose of this position
To prepare and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements
Qualifications
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Cannot have been convicted of any crime related to any services to be provided under this job description, including, but not limited to moral turpitude, assault or violence.
- Must be able to speak and understand the English language or a language understood by a substantial portion of the facility’s residents.
- Physical ability to perform job-related duties, which may require lifting up to 50lbs, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing and pulling.
- Possess personal qualities making it possible to maintain good interpersonal relationships. Ex: respect for each person as an individual, kindness, and loyalty.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work at any Northfield Retirement Communities Long Term Care, or Assisted Living facility as assigned.
. Responsibilities
- Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
- Prepares food items.
- Cooks food items by means necessary to specified-recipes and standards.
- Performs inventory checks.
- Accuracy and speed in executing tasks.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Follows directions and instructions.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- One - Two years experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook.
- Familiar with industry best practices..
- Maintain cleanliness of dining room, coffee bar, and kitchen area, following sanitation procedures.
- Assist in the proper care, use and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge for safe use of kitchen equipment.
- Store food in compliance with dietary procedures.
- Prepare residents’ diets in accordance with diet orders and daily menus.
- Assist the food service manager to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus.
- Prepare food, which is palatable and pleasurable in taste and appearance, at the same time taking care to avoid food waste.
- Completely fill out all daily meal count sheets; to include meal counts for medical center, assisted living, main dining room, and trays.
- Attend in-service training programs for food service employees.
- Observe all facility policies and procedures.
- Assume Quality Assurance duties as assigned.
- Details interior areas on a regular basis using general cleaning tools and equipment (i.e. broom, mop, vacuum, etc)
- Ensures a safe, clean environment for residents and co-workers. Initiate corrective action.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Accept and complete assignments timely, cooperatively and accurately.
- Consistently work cooperatively with residents, and staff.
- Come to work in a neat, clean uniform with nametag and gait belt and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.
- Come to work as scheduled and demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
- Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
- Observe infection control procedures.
- Follow Resident’s Rights policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
