Position:

The Food Shelf Assistant is the ambassador and role model of customer service for all Food Program services and events by ensuring that all guests feel welcomed and are treated with dignity and respect. The assistant is often the first and last point of contact for a guest and holds the responsibility for the lasting impression guests take from their experience at NorthPoint.

This position will professionally greet guests, assist with their shopping experience, receive and record donations, unload incoming and outgoing inventory, stock and track inventory levels, and fill orders for emergency and routine distributions.

One of the open positions requires the ability to fluently speak English and Spanish. We also welcome applicants that are fluent in Hmong or Somali languages, however, not required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of food shelf, warehouse, grocery and/or retail customer service experience, required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and data enter information into Microsoft Word and Excel programs, as well as, other database tracking systems.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment, including working with volunteers.
  • Must possess demonstrated ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic, cultural backgrounds, ages and economic circumstances.
