As a Leadership Academy Youth Assistant, you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of young individuals within the community. You will be responsible for building strong, positive relationships with youth participants, serving as a role model, providing guidance, and facilitating various educational and skill-building activities. By helping youth develop leadership skills, self-confidence, and a sense of purpose, you will contribute to their success in both the short and long term.
- Mentorship: Build and maintain strong mentor-mentee relationships with youth participants in the Leadership Academy.
- Personal Development: Assist mentees in setting personal and academic goals, and provide guidance on how to achieve them.
- Leadership Skills: Design and deliver workshops, activities, and discussions that focus on leadership development, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Role Modeling: Demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, and a positive attitude as a role model for mentees.
- Emotional Support: Provide a safe and supportive environment for youth to express themselves, discuss challenges, and develop emotional intelligence.
- Program Coordination: Collaborate with the program coordinator to plan and execute various Leadership Academy events, seminars, and outings.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess mentees' progress towards their goals and provide constructive feedback to help them grow.
- Community Engagement: Engage parents, families, and community members in supporting the youth's development and fostering a sense of community involvement.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mentorship activities, session notes, and participant progress.
Qualifications:
- 1 Year of experience or 60 units of college coursework in education, child development, or related field preferred
- 60 college credit hours
- Previous experience working with youth in mentoring, teaching, or counseling roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with young individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Passion for youth development, leadership, and empowerment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Empathetic, patient, and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to create and facilitate engaging workshops and activities.
- Proficiency in using technology for communication and documentation.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by youth in underserved communities.
