NorthStar is actively seeking to expand our Florida Operations Team. This operational group specializes in regulatory compliance, soil and groundwater assessment, site remediation, and other environmental client services. Our Team holds multiple professional contracts offering a wide range of services including due diligence investigations, conservation easement monitoring, site assessment, remediation design and construction, treatment system operation and maintenance, and roadway construction support.
POSITION CONCEPT: NorthStar is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in conducting environmental assessments, collecting and analyzing samples, and preparing reports. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the environmental science field.
LOCATION: NorthStar is a hybrid office/field/work-from-home company. This position is based out of our Tampa (Riverview) office location. Training and work preparation will typically occur in the Tampa office. Field work may be conducted anywhere in Florida, but most field work will be in central and southwest Florida. Reporting and data analyses work may be conducted at home or at an office location.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, petroleum storage system removals, and water treatment system operation and maintenance
- Perform environmental site assessments and investigations
- Conduct data collection, analysis, and documentation
- Prepare technical reports and proposals
- Maintain in-house equipment, such as multi-meters, photoionization detectors, and other related small equipment
- Track and maintain expendables inventory
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards
- Collaborate with senior scientists and project managers on various projects
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in natural science (environmental science, geology, biology, etc.), engineering, or related field
- 0 – 2 years of related professional experience
- Self-motivated, able to work independently or with a project team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork, including occasional weekends
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Internship or related experience in environmental science
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and FDEP Sampling SOPs
- Experience with GIS software
- Experience with GPS technology
