Blown Film Extrusion Operator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Blown Film Extrusion Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance of blown film extrusion equipment. You’ll play a key part in producing high-quality plastic film products, meeting production goals, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Operation

• Prepare and set up blown film extrusion lines, including extruder, die head, air ring, bubble cage, and winding equipment based on production specs.
• Load appropriate resins and additives into hoppers, ensuring accurate blend ratios for optimal film performance.
• Adjust and calibrate operating parameters (temperature, feed rates, pressure, nip rolls) to maintain consistent film quality.
• Perform start-up, operation, and shut-down procedures of the blown film and related converting equipment (e.g., corona treater, flexo printer, rewinders, folders).

Process Monitoring & Quality Assurance

• Continuously monitor production lines, gauges, and visual cues to ensure consistent output and machine performance.
• Conduct regular quality checks for film thickness, width, strength, color, and surface appearance.
• Document quality control results and report deviations immediately.
• Identify and address issues such as die build-up, gauge variation, or winding issues.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine maintenance tasks including die cleaning, filter changes, and component inspections.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical and electrical issues to prevent downtime.
• Notify maintenance team of major equipment problems or malfunctions for timely resolution.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times (e.g., gloves, goggles, hearing protection).
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with GMP, OSHA, and SQF standards.
• Immediately report any food safety or safety violations to supervisors or QA personnel.

Team Collaboration & Communication

• Coordinate with shift supervisors, fellow operators, and maintenance to ensure efficient workflow.
• Communicate machine status, production issues, and shift updates clearly during changeovers.
• Participate in cross-training and assist in onboarding new team members as needed.

QualificationsEducation & Training

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical or vocational training in plastics processing, mechanical systems, or machine operation (CIPET, ITI, Diploma in Plastics) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 1–2 years in a manufacturing environment.
• 2–5 years of experience operating mono-layer or multi-layer (e.g., 3- or 5-layer) blown film extrusion lines preferred.
• Experience with machine brands like W&H or Reifenhauser is a strong plus.
• Flexographic printing experience is an advantage.

Skills & Abilities

• Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge of plastic resins and extrusion processing.
• Ability to interpret work orders, technical specs, and quality standards.
• Attention to detail in inspecting and measuring products.
• Basic math and computer skills for process input and data entry.
• Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 12-hour shifts).
• Regular lifting of 35–40 lbs or more.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and overhead work.
• Tolerance for high-noise environments (hearing protection required).
• Ability to operate manual handling tools such as hoists, hand trucks, and roll manipulators.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant with exposure to heat, noise, moving machinery, and plastic materials.
• Strict adherence to safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
