What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airport Operations Specialist position at Northwest Arkansas National Airport?

1. The Airport Operations Specialist will perform specific job task processes and procedures to ensure operational efficiency specific to airfield, landside and terminal operations to include activities to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) including 14 CFR Parts 77 and 139 and assists Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 1542 and the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport Certification Manual (ACM).

2. Performs semi-skilled physical work in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities.

3. Performs maintenance on airport grounds including mowing, picking up trash and emptying trash receptacles.

4. Inspects all of Airport owned landside and airside buildings for maintenance repairs and assures all repairs are completed and reported to the Director of Airport Operations and Maintenance or responsible contractor.

5. Assist maintaining the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Conduct Job task to assure adherence to the above.

6. Considerable knowledge of operations at a FAR part 139 airport. Performs daily/nightly airfield inspections to ensure compliance with (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) part 139; document all discrepancies and perform follow up to assure corrections of all discrepancies. Performs or schedules repair/maintenance work in accordance with available personnel, inventory, and budgets. Reports all discrepancies and corrections to the Director of Operations and Maintenance.

7. Reports and/or corrects deficiencies reported by tenants or the public and coordinates preventive maintenance and janitorial work when necessary.

8. Issues and files Notices To Airmen (NOTAMS) to report all conditions that impact the safe operations of aircraft and ensure prompt communication to the FAA, air carriers, tenants and other airport users.

9. Monitors airfield conditions before, during and after inclement weather to ensure safety and compliance with (FAA) (FAR) Part 139 and the Airport (ACM). Reports conditions to the Director of Airport Operations and Maintenance, Deputy Director of Airport Operations and Maintenance, or Airport Chief Operations Officer.

10. Operates a variety of airport maintenance equipment including but not limited to tractor, brush hog, mowers, backhoe, snow removal equipment, ramp sweepers, light vehicles, radios etc.

11. May occasionally escort vendors or contractors for work on the airfield such rubber removal and airfield marking etc. The hours of the workday may be adjusted to facilitate such work.

12. Must be able to work rotating shift work and holidays. Responds to evening, weekend, and holiday emergency call for service.

13. Provide input for the Operations Department annual budget and prepare reports as required by airport management.

14. Recognizes, evaluates, and corrects safety hazards or advises immediate supervisor of same.

15. Must be able to utilize good judgement to evaluate corrective actions for condition assessments, NOTAM creation, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.50 - $24.00 per hour
