Who are we?
Just off the shores of Lake Michigan in Northern Indiana, Northwest Health - La Porte has been the heart of healthcare in La Porte for more than 40 years. La Porte is a 227-bed hospital providing acute care with strong programs in cardiology, orthopedics, surgical services, emergency care, oncology and maternal health. As of October 2020, our new and improved La Porte location opened. This location features the latest technology for our staff and providers. Our hospital is La Porte’s only stroke center and nationally accredited chest pain center.
Job Summary
- The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic procedures under the direction of a physician using imaging modalities at a technical level not requiring constant supervision;
- Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation;
- Assumes responsibilities for designated areas or procedures as required;
- Performing patient services using imaging modalities, applying principles of radiation protection, evaluating radiographs for technical quality, exercising professional judgment in the performance of procedures, providing patient care.
Education:
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Radiography required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Licensure & Certification:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T(R)(ARRT) or registry eligible with successful completion of the registry within six months of employment required.
- Post-primary registry in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or post registry eligible with successful completion of the ARRT registry within six months of employment required
- Licensed by the State of Indiana as a Radiologic Technologist required.
- BLS required
