Position Information:

NWHSU is seeking a collaborative Academic Technology and Services Specialist to join our Information Technology Services team. This role would be responsible for support, training, and maintenance related to the University's academic technology, classrooms/labs, conference rooms, and event spaces. In addition, this role will work within IT and across departments to define standards, policies, and procedures for the evaluation, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance of University academic technology.


Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work 1-2 days per week remotely upon completion of orientation and training; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.

The anticipated schedule is M, T, Th, F (7:00 am - 4:00 pm) W (10:30 am -7:30 pm). The position also requires 1-2 weekends per month (typically 7:30 am - 4 pm) and the regular schedule would be adjusted for additional time off when weekend work is required. Future state we anticipate weekend schedule will be every 3 weeks.


Duties:

  • Fields Help Desk requests via phone, email, and walk-ins, creating/updating tickets with notes and organizing tickets according to priority.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves computer software, hardware, and networking problems for users of University resources in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all classroom, conference room, and lab computers are updated, patched, and interfacing properly with audiovisual equipment.
  • Communicates technical solutions clearly in a friendly and professional manner, demonstrating strong customer service orientation.
  • Configures, upgrades, and installs new and existing multimedia, computer hardware and software.
  • Authors technical documentation and ensures that it is updated to remain current.
  • Provides group or one-on-one user training as needed for event, academic technology, or multimedia use.
  • Manage and maintain classroom technology.
  • Work with University departments to coordinate and execute event operations, providing event setup, support, and management of multimedia technology.


What you need to have?

  • High School diploma, required.
  • Associates degree or two-year program, preferred.
  • 0-2 years relevant experience, required.


Other Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of audiovisual equipment, including but not limited to: microphones, mixers, video switchers, signal processors, loudspeakers, lighting consoles, projectors, laptop computers.
  • Some knowledge of installed audiovisual systems and integrated multi-media control systems (Crestron and Extron).
  • Knowledge of academic technologies, training, and multimedia use in education.
  • Ability to work closely and successfully with outside talent, University community, and other technicians.
  • Be able to work well under pressure of live events.
