What are the responsibilities and job description for the Q.A. Technician - 1st Shift position at Northwire?

Summary/Objective:

The Quality Assurance Technician shall support quality department activities through direct involvement in product containment, management of nonconforming production, direct product inspection and quality system needs. This role will effectively communicate with manufacturing and engineering personnel regarding product conformance related topics.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate movement and disposition of product to and from the nonconforming material area.
  • Perform assembly, incoming, electrical and physical inspections to assure product conformity to specifications and record data.
  • Complete containment activities for all identified customer complaints.
  • Create product documentation (PPAP or validation reports) to support new product qualification or requalification activities.
  • Perform quality audits to support ISO quality system registrations.
  • Complete identified cross training with internal resources on personal areas of expertise.
  • Perform receiving inspection and release material from QC hold
  • Perform equipment calibrations
  • Issue corrective actions and perform verification of effectiveness activities
  • Manage all other duties as identified and required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee may be required to be on the production floor where proper PPE use will be required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this position, the TEAM Member is frequently required to talk or listen to fellow TEAM Members. The TEAM Member is frequently required to stand, walk, use full hand functions, and reach with hands and arms. Lifting up to 50 lbs. will be required.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work:

Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday and may vary based on business needs.

Travel:

25% travel is expected for this position.

Relocation:

No relocation is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years in a Quality position

Additional Eligibility Qualifications or Certifications:

  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (preferred)
  • Calibration experience (preferred)
