Responsibilities
The role of the Sterile Processing Tech is to perform technical duties necessary for the decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of supplies and equipment for the entire hospital according to established hospital protocol, policies, procedures and central sterile standards for all patient populations served within a team environment using strong attention to detail, strong organizational & prioritization skills, effective communications, critical thinking, and basic computer skills. The Sterile Processing Tech will also complete quarterly competencies.
Qualifications
Required:
- One of: CIS or CRCST or CSPDT Must obtain certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD within the first two years of employment however technician must sit for the exam the first in their first 12 months.
Desired:
- One year Sterile Processing/Central Service or One year as an OR tech
- Certified Instrument Specialist OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician OR Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician
