Position Summary
Responsible for supporting the review and completion of all IEPs in the school to insure compliance with the statutory requirements of IDEA, State and BOE policies governing the provision of special education services. Candidates for this stipend must be recommended by building principal, special education administrator and Education Administrator for Speialized Services.
Stipend work will be completed primarily outside of school hours, except as appropriate during planning periods, or during school hours prior to the start or following the conclusion of the school year.

Number of Days: Academic year, per teachers’ contract, plus 3 days at year end

Position Summary

Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a system of reviewing building based IEPs and other essential related special education documents, to determine levels of compliance with State and District policies/procedures
- Prepare monthly report that informs special education administrator regarding any trends, concerns or quality issues
- Review building based IEPs for accuracy and compliance errors, complete IEP compliance checklist for each IEP, inform special education staff of errors and how to correct them
- Review and monitor all IEPs to promote compliance with the 5 days after-PPT deadline
- Review and promote completion of special education forms and documentation of required parental consent
- Review transfer students files for documentation of parental consent for special education services
- Review IEP references regarding required materials presented to parents/guardians including A Parent’s Guide to Special Education, Procedural Safeguards, Seclusion and Restraint, Transition Bill of Rights, etc.
- Maintain a spreadsheet listing all special education students, required services, case managers, annual and triennial dates, etc. that is updated monthly and shared with Special Education Administrator/Chief
- Inform special education administrator regarding any trends, concerns or quality issues
- Contribute recommendations and data to an annual staffing plan for school, especially with regard to service hours necessary to fully implement IEPs
- Related duties as assigned
- Attend and participate in monthly meetings
Number of Days: Academic year, per teachers’ contract, plus 3 days at year end
Qualifications
- Currently employed as an secondary special education teacher,
- 3-5 years’ teaching experience; proven exemplary ability to write IEPs;
- Extensive knowledge of special education law, strong communication skills; superior organizational skills;
- Ability to meet deadlines.
