Spanish Teacher

Notre Dame Academy, Hingham, Massachusetts is an all-female college preparatory middle and high school educating students in grades 7-12, is seeking a full-time World Language Teacher (Spanish) with high energy, a creative spirit, and a passion for empowering young women. World Language Teacher - Spanish GENERAL OVERVIEW The ideal candidate should have an understanding of pedagogical and classroom-management techniques appropriate for middle and high school students. The candidate should be conversant with the use of technology in the world language classroom, detailed lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and a commitment to educating students in accordance with the mission of the school and the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Components of Responsibility Pedagogy and Assessment -Align course curriculum and assessments with established NDA curriculum maps. -Ensure frequent opportunities for formative and summative assessments. -Provide extra help through meetings with students and through email communications. -Implement meaningful and effective instructional methods. -Integrate technology into pedagogy where necessary and beneficial. -Prepare and deliver lectures to students on topics outlined in the school curriculum. -Evaluate and grade students' class work, performance, assignments, and papers. -Compile, administer, and grade examinations -Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. -Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. -Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. -Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. -Work collaboratively with colleagues across divisions and departments -Remain knowledgeable of instructional and curriculum trends, goals, and objectives -Actively support community based on cultural competence, diverse perspectives, and respect for all voices Classroom Management -Create and maintain an organized, functional, and safe learning environment. -Create and uphold rules and procedures that optimize learning. -Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: - Can instruct Spanish, French and Latin. **candidates with dual language certifications will be given priority. -Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, world language education, or related field. -Master’s degree or progress toward a Master’s degree. -License to teach Spanish in grades 6-12 in Massachusetts. -Experience and focus teaching younger high school students. *Notre Dame Academy seeks to create a working and learning environment that reflect the society and community in which we are located, and we actively encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
