ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Foster community among the sisters

• Provide transportation for sisters to MD appointments and log the visit, diagnosis and any medication changes

• Visit sisters in the hospital and in rehabilitation settings

• Accompany sisters to ER as needed

• Coordinate transportation for family visits, retreats, days of prayer, unit meetings

• Respond to concerns of sisters

• Assist sisters with personal budgets as needed

• Make purchases for the sister-residents as needed

• Assist Sisters with accessing opportunities for prayer and reflection

• Keep sisters up to date regarding happenings in their units and in the ND international community

• Facilitate birthday and holiday celebrations

• Be available for emergencies

• Provide coverage on a 7-day rotating schedule and on-call (including nights and weekends)

• Maintain confidentiality

Requirements

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/REQUIRED SKILLS:

• High School Diploma

• Interest in working with older sisters

• Ability to be a pastoral presence

• Flexibility

• Ability to communicate well with du Lac staff, with the sisters and among the coordinators

• Ability to drive, including at night, and assist passengers

• Record of good health

• A sense of humor

• Reliable

• Enthusiasm for the work

• Computer competency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Community Coordinators spend much of their time on their feet helping Sisters in their charge

• Must have the ability to bend, twist, and stretch while transferring a Sister from one place to another, getting into and out of a car, getting into and out of bed, etc.

• Must be capable of lifting Sisters of varying weight

• Must have the physical strength to perform emergency procedures, such as CPR

• Must be comfortable driving Sisters to and from appointments and other activities
