After School Extended Day Teacher

NOVA Middle School, an independent school serving highly capable/gifted learners, is searching for a responsible individual to manage their after school program. The successful candidate for this position will have both energy and openness, a steady demeanor, and a desire to work with middle school age students.

Core Responsibilities:

The After School program (AfterS) is offered to NOVA students from 3:30-5:00 on school days. The duties of this position include:

• Giving students the opportunity to be outside for a short time
• Offering students a snack
• Providing a quiet space for students to complete homework
• Planning quiet activities for students who do not have homework
• Cleaning up the classroom once students have left
• Building rapport and showing respect with all students
• Communicating with the Head of School any issues

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Associates Degree preferred
• Experience working with students in schools or group situations preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Experience working with school-aged children
• Understanding of classroom management
